Runnymede Trust report on racism in schools

The findings of this report shine a clear spotlight on the inadequacy of the current curriculum to help provide pupils with a degree of resilience against racist ideologies.

“In this study, across school types, teachers expressed a general and widespread dissatisfaction with the restrictiveness of the curriculum. It was noted, however, that certain subjects had more scope than others for engaging with race and diversity. Subjects such as citizenship, English, religious education and sociology were seen to have some flexibility.”
